Frequently Asked Questions

1) How do I know what size skip I need?

A: You can hire skip sizes from 4 to 16yard capacity. To find out what size skip is best for your requirements click the skips on the domestic skips page. Remember to be realistic about the amount of waste that you have got, as two skips cost significantly more than one.

2) What access do I need to provide?

A: The vehicles delivering the skip to your house are LGV's and are normally very large, please make sure there is sufficient access to allow it in/out safely. If you are unsure, please contact us and we can provide you with the approximate dimensions required.

3) Where will the skip be left?

A: Ideally the skip should reside on your property. If it is to be sited on a public highway a permit will be need to be obtained from your local authority. For information about permits please check out the domestic skips page.

4) How much can I put into the skip?

A: The skip must be level loaded to the top of the container, so that it can be legally transported on the road.

5) Can I put different types of waste into my skip?

A: Yes, all your different types of waste can be placed into the same skip. Once your skip then arrives back at our recycling centre, it will be segregated in our transfer station.

6) Is it cheaper if i only put bricks and soil into the skip?

A: Yes, if you fill the skip with inert waste only (Bricks, concrete, hardcore and soil) then it can be significantly cheaper than mixed waste. This is also the case if you are only putting green waste such as shrubs and grass cuttings into the skip.

7) Is there anything I can't put into the skip?

A: There are numerous materials that can't be placed into the skip, including: Asbestos, fridges, freezers, batteries, tyres, electrical appliances, medical waste, fluorescent light tubes, paints, aerosols, gas canisters and other hazardous waste.

Note: If you are disposing of hazardous materials please call us for advice, as we may be able to offer you another service, such as our Haz box's.

8) How do I pay for the skip?

A: You can pay in one of 3 ways: Over our website, On delivery to the driver with cash/Business cheque or over the phone by credit/debit card.

9) How long can I have the skip for?

A: The hire price is the same for 1 day - 2 weeks, irrespective of length of hire. Please advise us at time of booking if you require the skip for a period longer than 2 weeks.

10) Is the skip price the same, even if i live over 10miles away from Worksop?

A: The price given for skips here is for delivery within this area. If you live outside the area on the map, we offer a national skip hire service and can give you a very competitive price if you call us on 01909 470070.
